Greetings,
The old bulletin board system has been re-built and moved. Below, find answers to the most common questions about this change and what's in store in the coming months.
1. I haven't been on a cruise before, where can I meet folks, find a roommate etc?
In the coming months, Bare Necessities will unveil a sequence of websites and resources with first time cruisers in mind. Point your browser to www.bareharbor.com and use the sign-up form receive alerts and invitations for those resources as we make them available.
2. Who can use the new board?
The new bulletin board is for our veteran and current passengers only. In the coming months, other sections tailored to new cruisers will become available. To get alerts, visit www.bareharbor.com to receive updates and invitations.
3.I went to the new Bulletin Board, my old username and password don't work?
We have entirely re-built the bulletin board system. This means you will have to start fresh. As before, you will have to register for the board with a username and password you choose and then be approved. If you enter a username and it is already taken, you will have to use another one.
4. I don't have a password to the forum about my cruise.
The invitations included a password for your Tour Forum. Please take a moment to review your invitation email to find it. If you still need help, send an email to moderator@bareharbor.com.
5. How can I get into the Bulletin Board?
Everyone on our current cruise passenger list has been invited to the new board. We have also sent invitations to previous cruisers who have requested invites. If you would like an invitation and have toured with us before, email moderator@bareharbor.com to introduce yourself and receive an invitation.
6. Why isn't the address for the new bulletin board listed?
The new board is invitation only and for the exclusive enjoyment of our current and former passengers.
7. Do I have to be a former or current cruiser to use the board?
Yes. The new bulletin board is for current and former cruisers only. Additional bulletin boards, tools and resources tailored specifically for those interested in, or wanting to plan their first cruise will be unveiled soon. Point your browser to www.bareharbor.com and use our sign-up form to receive updates and alerts for when those resources become available.
8. I registered at the new board, but I forgot my username and/or password, what should I do?
If you have forgotten your password, go to the bulletin board address and then click the "Forgot Password" link, then look for an email detailing how to change your your password. If you click the 'Forget Password" link and don't receive an email, check in your SPAM folder. If you forgot your user name, we have no means to retrieve it, so be sure to make it memorable. If you are a past cruiser or current cruiser and you lost your user name, you will be welcome to re-register but---we will have no means to transfer your old posts to the new account.
9. Why did you take down the old board?
The old bulletin board was outdated, inefficient and did not play well with the tools and resources we will be bringing on line in the near future. We decided to spend time on re-building a more stable, robust and efficient bulletin board rather then spend weeks mailing and emailing folks reminders.
10. Where did all the great information from the old board go?
The bulletin board system was never designed to be a final place for all the great insights, experiences and community activities that took place or could be found on the bulletin board. Bare Necessities being a point of reference and a community both, we are pleased to share that we are developing resources and tools tailored to just those kinds of activities in the coming months. Point your browser to www.bareharbor.com and sign-up to receive updates to learn more about those resources as they come on line.
